Look how beautiful it is…
I used to think my favorite color was red but this tender first spring green really moves me. It’s like a personification of hope.
Would somebody please tell Winter it’s time to go? We used to know of a woman who gave elegant dinner parties and after dessert she would stand and say, “It’s lovely to see you, thank you so much for coming.” Hard to miss the hint that it was time to hit the road.
Spring has been too lady-like; Mr. Winter, take your 33 degrees and your big wind—
Here I have to stop for a family story. My brother Larry made the honor roll and Dad, in boasting to my grandmother, said, “You know, Mom, the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree.” She looked at him and replied with perfect comic timing, “Unless there’s a big wind blowing.”
As I was saying, Winter, take your gloomy weather and don’t let the door hit you on the way out—I hear Patagonia’s looking for you.
I love that the places I go to have welcoming boards with messages of wisdom and cheer. This is at the Jefferson Market Library where the lobby is full of strollers for story time.
“Spring is the time of plans and projects.” Leo Tolstoy
What’s you plan? Do you have a project?
I have a plan and a project but it won’t amount to War and Peace. I’m now halfway to my goal of finishing 5 drawings on paper measuring 41 inches by 26 inches. I haven’t set a date for completion but I’m moving right along.
Here’s the next step for the third piece,
Now the big red house is more like a little house in the big woods. I was thinking about adding an owl but I don’t want him to scare the squirrel —or worse— so now I’m thinking about putting a pileated woodpecker on the tree on the left. My camera hasn’t captured the pine trees—they look almost gray but it’s a deep forest-y green—one of my favorite inks, Calli Green.
Let’s hope for warmer weather for Passover and Easter.
Always so impressed by your beautiful details and the vision you bring to each painting.
This may be my favorite yet!
