I walk past Jackson Square Park several times a week and always feel a lift when I see the sunlight glowing through the leaves. It’s a sylvan glade in the middle of the city.
The babies are growing—and I’m sorry to see that there are now only six. But that’s nature.
And the Knicks?
How about those Knicks! We’re over the moon with excitement. Thank you, Jessie, for the T-shirt so we can broadcast our New York Pride.
At the same time, we acknowledge our Boston friends and family and, fervently as we hope for an NBA championship after fifty-two years, we also hope that everyone has a great time.
There was an article in this week’s times about Knick Josh Hart and how he’s traded his dream of being a star for being a “servant.” Interesting choice of words. He’s now “the heartbeat” of the team, supporting his teammates. It’s a generous way of being and very interesting in light of our current national leadership. Just saying.
I have another story about generosity. You see the golden retriever puppy with the red ball?
That’s Wilbur, who first came to the dog park trembling with shyness, clinging to his human. The other dogs, Atlas and Ginger in this picture, and all the regulars, Ella, Maisie, and especially Bucket, the Bernese Mountain Dog, gently reached out and taught him to puppy wrestle and chase the ball. Now Wilbur’s one of the guys. Don’t you love it when we all work together?
As for my work, The Little Red House is finished.
Well, maybe not quite finished. I’ll go back and add more pine branches and feathers for the woodpecker. But I’m moving on.
The three pieces I’ve been working on these past weeks almost drew themselves but now my well of ideas is running low. I have no idea what’s next but I know something will come. For now I’m just looking around. Like at these leaves—I love the new green on top of the old.
I’m thinking about taking some figures from the Sistine Chapel, as has been done before. Fernand Lager said, “Art is piracy!”
It is great to see it finished, lovely!
Beautiful post. And amazing work!
