Somebody from Canada Likes Us!
Mr. and Mrs. Canada Goose have brought their babies out for us to meet!
Wouldn’t you show them off if they were yours?
Mom and Dad were very protective but they also seemed to give the babies room to walk around and explore.
It looks like they’re saying, “That’s the river—take a good look because pretty soon you’ll be swimming in it. Then we’ll teach you how to fly.”
A lot of gardens around here are practicing No Mow May, giving the plants that nurture the pollinators a chance to grow. I love Dandelions even though, and maybe because, my Dad loathed and abhorred them. He made it everyone’s chore to make sure the lawn was perfectly free of the cheerful yellow blossoms and the little parasols that carry their seeds hither and yon. One Sunday the minister spoke in his sermon about the man who so hated dandelions that he funded a study at Texas A&M to eradicate them. They spent a few years at work and finally went back to him and said, “We can’t do it. Dandelions are here to stay. We suggest you learn to love them.” Mom and I fell out of the pew laughing. I know, you’ve heard this before but I think of it every spring.
So, how about those Knicks? Arthur and I met on the day the Knicks came home from LA having beaten the Lakers for the NBA championship. I knew he was a fan so I said, “I’m flattered you’re here with me instead of at the airport.”
That was the last championship for our boys and since we’re now grandparents you know it’s been a long dry spell. This year they may have a chance. Tonight’s was a thrilling win but we have a way to go. I’m not sure I can stand it.
Almost finished with the little house in the big woods.
I’ve done the trim on the house and dressed Mary Cassatt in blue—thank you, Ellen. All that’s left is some shading in the woodpecker’s head and something in the windows beside curtains. Any suggestions?
I never took you for a sports fan and yet your Yanks appear in some drawings and I believe even one Red Sox player!!
Maybe a person or two in the window(s) for Mary Cassette to be gazing at.
